The training of engineering and technical personnel for the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan should be given priority attention. This was stated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a government meeting last Friday, at which issues of state economic and social policy were discussed, new projects and other primary tasks for the implementation of national programs were considered.

During the meeting, a report was made by the Vice-Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Myratgeldi Meredov on work to further strengthen the production potential of the oil and gas industry, increase oil and gas production, including by increasing the productivity of oil wells, and the wide use of modern drilling technologies.

After hearing the report, the President noted that the state is making major investments in the development of basic industries, including the fuel and energy complex.

At the current stage, the main task is the widespread introduction of innovations and digital technologies in all areas, which is intended to increase the competitiveness of our economy on a global scale, the head of state said. In this regard, priority should be given to the training of engineering and technical personnel. “Investing in human capital is one of the most important investments that will play a large role in the development of the economy and increase its efficiency,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.

The head of the state noted that this topic is particularly relevant for the domestic fuel and energy complex, where large-scale construction projects for super-modern oil and gas chemical enterprises are being implemented. In this regard, the President gave the Vice-Chairman specific instructions on improving the system of vocational training, raising the level of skill of oil and gas industry specialists.

The issue of training professionals for the oil and gas industry was also raised in the course of familiarization of the head of the state with the construction of a new plant for the production of synthetic gasoline from natural gas in Ovadandepe of the Akhal region, which the President did last Thursday.

In particular, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed to introduce into the curriculum of the relevant faculties of the International Oil and Gas University technologies that are used at the new plant for the production of synthetic fuel. While undergoing practical training at this ultra-modern enterprise, where unique technologies are used today, university students will be able to better study the technological processes of the gas processing industry and thus become qualified specialists in this field, the head of state said, giving a number of instructions on this matter.

It should be noted that with the commissioning of the plant in Ovadandepe, about 800 jobs will be created. The staff of this company has already passed a special training course and is fully ready for commissioning. In the future, in our country it is planned to build a number of new gas-chemical plants and complexes, for the successful work of which, professionally trained specialists are needed.
