An international conference entitled “Partnership for Development Financing in the Heart of the Great Silk Road” has started in Ashgabat. The forum has been organized by the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
About 200 representatives of various ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, international financial institutions, companies and commercial banks, as well as UN experts took part in the conference. They discussed issues related to financing the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals at the national and regional levels, the role of the national banking system in the field of investing, the experience of financing innovative development, as well as business and cross-border projects.
The conference resulted in signing a number of bilateral documents. The State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Program signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in development financing for the achievement of the SDGs in Turkmenistan.
There was also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on financing the promising projects in Turkmenistan between the Government of Turkmenistan and Al Qamra Holding Group (the State of Qatar).
