The most important aspects of the Turkmen-Turkish cooperation were discussed on June 2 in a telephone conversation between the Presidents of Turkey Recep Erdogan and Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The Turkish leader also invited his Turkmen counterpart to take part in the opening ceremony of the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP), the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
– Turkmenistan attaches great importance to cooperation with Turkey, which is developing dynamically, both in the bilateral format and within international organizations on the principles of mutual understanding, mutual respect, in the interests of both peoples,- said the Turkmen leader.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Recep Erdogan noted the presence of a solid mutual potential for the intensification of cooperation, including in the fuel and energy sector.
"Turkmenistan, rich in hydrocarbon deposits, is ready to put them at the service of universal progress and sustainable development," Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov said. The President also stressed that Turkmenistan, which has more than enough gas to meet all its obligations on the existing routes and planned ones, is a supporter of the fair distribution of energy resources on the basis of the balance of interests of the supplier country, the transit country and the end consumer.
Expressing support for Turkmenistan's gas diplomacy on the world stage, Recep Erdogan invited Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the opening of the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP), which will be held in June.
The TANAP pipeline is part of the Southern gas corridor project, which involves the transportation of "blue fuel" from the Caspian region to the European Union countries. At the first stage, it is planned to transport Azerbaijani gas, in the future – "blue fuel" from other countries, including Turkmenistan.
The President of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude to the Turkish counterpart for the invitation. This issue will be dealt with in an appropriate manner, through diplomatic channels.
The leaders of Turkmenistan and Turkey also discussed the development of cooperation in the transport sector. New prospects in this direction are opened in view of the recently commissioned new International seaport in the city of Turkmenbashi.
The head of Turkmenistan emphasized that our country will continue to support the continued strengthening of friendly, fraternal relations and cooperation with Turkey, which sees a reliable friend and partner.
The head of Turkmenistan also wished Recep Erdogan success in the upcoming presidential elections of the Republic of Turkey on June 24, 2018.
