The Convention on the status of the Caspian sea can be signed in August 2018 at the summit of the Caspian States in Astana, Deputy foreign Minister Grigory Karasin said, INTERFAX-AZERBAIJAN reports.

"There is a very intensive work at the expert level. We want the planned summit of the Caspian States in Astana in August to end effectively and the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian to be signed as a result of it," Karasin said in Baku.

According to him, the signing of this document "serves stability in the region."
