The upcoming official visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Italian Republic on November 6–7, 2019 will open a new stage in the annals of bilateral relations, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported in a publication in the newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan.

 

Within the framework of the visit, bilateral talks of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte are planned. The meetings to be held in Rome are designed to confirm the friendly and equal nature of bilateral relations based on mutual respect, as there are huge opportunities for joint action in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields, the Foreign Ministry said.

 

It is also noted that during the visit, a meeting of the President of Turkmenistan with the leaders of large Italian companies is planned, which will make it possible to further intensify business ties and outline promising areas of cooperation.

 

The documents that will be signed following high-level bilateral negotiations during the visit will help strengthen the legal framework for cooperation between Turkmenistan and Italy, the Foreign Ministry said.

 

The joint Turkmen-Italian forum, which will be held in the conference hall of the Rosa Grand Milan hotel in Milan, will give an impetus to intensify bilateral cooperation. During the business forum, it is planned to hold "round tables", as well as the signing of contracts and agreements in various areas.

 

Among the most important areas of cooperation are industry and infrastructure, the oil and gas industry, the agro-industrial complex, and direct contacts between business circles.

 

Directions such as energy, economics, the financial and banking sector, and the historical and archaeological sphere are traditional components of Turkmen-Italian relations. Large Italian companies such as ENI, Valvitalia, Pietro Fiorentini ShA, Pro Business Srl, as well as small enterprises – ETD European Technology Development Srl, Geieeurasiamed, Comair SpA (TCOR) , “Chimec SpA” make an important contribution to the development of the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan, the Foreign Ministry notes.

 

Companies such as Maschio Gaspardo, Marzoli, Helikopters Italia S.r.l. Unipersonale, carry out important joint projects in the field of light industry, air traffic, construction sector.

 

An indicator of the growth of cooperation with Italian entrepreneurs is the fact that Italy takes 3rd place in 8 months of 2019 in the foreign trade turnover of Turkmenistan.
