President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during his working trip to Balkan region last Wednesday familiarized with the preparations for the First Caspian economic forum, which will be held in August in the National tourist zone "Avaza". The head of state reported on the preparatory work for the upcoming forum at a meeting held in the seaport of Turkmenbashi with the participation of the Chairman of the Mejlis, Vice Prime Ministers, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, mayor of the Balkan region.

As noted, the agenda of the Forum covers issues related to the development of cooperation in the Caspian region. Members of governments, heads of ministries and departments, heads of coastal regions and Executive bodies, representatives of the banking sector, companies whose activities are related to the Caspian sea, as well as employees of international economic, financial, transport, environmental and other organizations, scientific centers are invited to participate in it.

Among the planned events are the Caspian exhibition of innovative technologies and the international Conference, which will discuss the role of the economy of the Caspian region on a global scale, the factors of growth of investment attractiveness in oil and gas, electricity, transport, trade and other industries.

Particular attention will be paid to the possibilities of implementing joint investment projects and programs, the creation and development of special, special and free economic zones, joint ventures, as well as the digital economy, promising areas of cooperation between the regions of coastal States, the legal regulation of trade and economic relations, the exchange of statistical information, etc.

As you know, the date of the first Caspian economic forum was not chosen by chance. It was on this day, 12 August 2006, that the framework Convention for the protection of the marine environment of the Caspian sea entered into force. Since then, this date is celebrated by the countries of the region as the international day of the Caspian sea.

On the eve of the Caspian forum, it is planned to hold a special meeting of Ministers, which will consider the practical implementation of intergovernmental Agreements on cooperation in trade, economic and transport spheres, signed at the V Summit of the heads of the Caspian States on August 12, 2018 in Aktau.

The forthcoming Forum is also intended to give a new impetus to international cooperation in this important area, as well as to the development of regional and interregional trade, economic, tourist and cultural and humanitarian ties.

Summarizing the reports, the President stressed that the strengthening of friendly relations with the countries of the Caspian region is one of the priority vectors of Turkmenistan's foreign policy. Taking consistent steps in this direction, our country makes a significant contribution to the common efforts to develop mutually acceptable solutions to topical issues of the regional and global agenda and to achieve the Goals of sustainable development.

Turkmenistan on a regular basis puts forward specific proposals aimed at optimizing the mutually beneficial partnership between the five coastal countries, acting as a consistent supporter of the diversification of trade and economic relations, the effective implementation of the huge natural resource, transit, transport, energy and industrial potential of the Caspian region, the head of state stressed.

This is the aim of the upcoming First Caspian economic forum, designed to demonstrate the successes achieved by the Caspian countries in the above areas, as well as their opportunities for productive cooperation with international partners in a wide range of areas, including in the field of innovative technologies, ecology and water diplomacy.

We will continue to contribute in every possible way to strengthening the brotherly and good-neighbourly ties between the Caspian countries, whose peoples are United by centuries-old historical and cultural ties, strengthening the status of the Caspian sea as a sea of peace, friendship and harmony, the President stressed.

Speaking about this, the head of state instructed to work out in detail all the issues related to the organization and holding at the highest level of the events planned within the framework of the Caspian forum.

At the end of the workshop, the President gave a number of specific instructions to the participants, stressing that the tasks should be approached on a scientific basis, using best practices.
