Russia can hold negotiations with Turkmenistan on the resumption of the purchase of Turkmen natural gas. It is reported by TASS with reference to Deputy head of the Ministry of energy Anatoly Yanovsky.
— I think that negotiations can take place in the fall, – the news Agency quotes the official.
At the same time, the Deputy head of the Russian Ministry of energy said that there is a commercial pause in the gas trade between the two countries until the end of the year.
The gas supply contract between Gazprom and Turkmengas was suspended from 1 January 2016. From that moment on, the parties took a break in the gas trade.
Russia has been the largest buyer of Turkmen natural gas for years. Gazprom annually purchased about 50 billion cubic meters of fuel in Turkmenistan.
Now the largest amount of Turkmen blue fuel is bought by China. Turkmenistan is also carrying out a range of activities to diversify its gas exports. Currently, the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline is underway, as well as preparatory work on the organization of Turkmen natural gas supplies to Europe.
At the same time, experts believe that Turkmenistan can shift the focus in the development of gas resources from the sale of pipeline and liquefied gas to its deep processing and production of high added value.
Currently, the country is completing the construction of several large gas chemical complexes. The results of their work will have an impact on the development of oil and gas policy of Turkmenistan in the long term.
