Prospects of Turkmen-Turkish cooperation in transit and transport sphere were discussed at the meeting of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the Minister of transport, seafaring and communications of Turkey Ahmet Arslan, who arrived in Ashgabat.

As emphasized during the meeting, prospects of partnership in this area due to the favorable geographical position of the two countries. In this aspect, it was noted that at present Turkmenistan is a large-scale modernization of the infrastructure of all modes of transport, simultaneously initiating major projects of international importance that have been successfully implemented jointly with foreign partners.

Noting the strategic nature of the development of international transport and communication infrastructure, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the fruitful cooperation in this sphere between Turkmenistan and Turkey is important in interregional and global dimension.

According to the President of Turkmenistan, both countries have every reason to take a leading position in the establishment of modern transport corridors in the directions East-West and North-South. The head of state noted that Turkish companies are entrusted with such major projects as the construction of new international sea port in Turkmenbashi city and the international airport of Ashgabat international standards of highways, interchanges and overpasses.

Noting that in November this year in Ashgabat will host the global conference on sustainable transport, the President was invited to participate in the forum the delegation of Turkey.

During the conversation, A. Arslan said that Turkey attached particular importance to the development of brotherly relations with Turkmenistan, whose policy of positive neutrality, openness and wide international cooperation recognition and support from the international community.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also noted that Turkmenistan pays great attention to the strengthening of bilateral dialogue with Turkey.
